Süti & Co. / Hytte & Co.

THE BRIEF

Develop distinct, yet integrated brand identities for two Scandinavian-inspired concepts: (1) a bakery, café and small retail shop and (2) a larger home goods and lifestyle boutique. Each brand should reflect the intentionality of slow living and celebrate simple pleasures, emphasizing an investment in modern heirlooms that become more beautiful with use and time.

The Opportunity

When founder Andrea Uzarowski first approached our studio, she already had a basic brand and a name for her first retail concept: Süti & Co. Envisioned as a beautifully curated gathering place where guests can enjoy a break from the hustle and bustle of their schedules, we helped refine the brand story and visual design, building an online presence with a distinct voice rooted in Andrea’s warm, yet exacting approach to hospitality.

As Süti & Co. quickly became a beloved Boulder standby—gaining a dedicated following for Andrea’s signature shortbread cookies and baked goods—her curated selection of home goods increasingly made the shop a design destination as well. As guests increasingly asked for her ad-hoc advice on interior and entertaining projects, the vision for a second brand was born: an approachable, yet heirloom-quality boutique that offers tangible design inspiration through the artful staging of realistic spaces.

The Challenge

As Scandinavian design has become more mainstream, it was important that we differentiate both brands through the lens of Andrea’s Danish heritage and European perspective. In the case of Süti & Co., we supported ongoing brand communications—including a monthly email series—to help establish Andrea’s voice and to invite customers into her unique lived experiences.

When it came time to brand Hytte & Co., we found naming inspiration in the historic cottages that house both shops—an intentional choice that seemed to echo the role of holiday cabins in Scandinavian family life. This naming choice also emphasizes Andrea’s layered, gradual approach to home decor, in which objects are curated with a sense of enduring quality and generational storytelling.

Visual + Verbal Storytelling

Stepping inside Süti & Co. and Hytte & Co.—both of which are located in historic homes off Pearl Street—is an endlessly charming experience, thanks to Andrea’s design-forward, yet accessible, taste in home goods. Yet rather than letting these spaces speak for themselves, we developed an expressive, personal style of messaging that underscores the genuine invitation Andrea extends to her guests.

Continued

Visually, we rooted each brand in the elegant simplicity of Scandinavian style, where small details make a world of difference. Over the course of several photoshoots, we established a refined, yet lived-in aesthetic that feels rooted in the in-person experience of each brand. Our color palettes were also inspired by hues from classic Danish prints (for Süti & Co.) and coastal landscapes (for Hytte & Co.), creating corresponding brands that play off each other seamlessly.

THOUGHTS FROM THE CLIENT

“Designing the right brand concept is just as important as communicating my business’ values and mission. I’m excited to have a face and voice given to my business by Carly and Lauren. Not only did they capture the essence of what Süti & Co and Hytte & Co. are about, but also left room for growth that we as a business and brand can build upon.”
